Screening of Andrew Horton's documentary "Laughter without Borders"

The first screening of the documentary film by Andrew Horton featuring the "Clowns without Borders" organization will take place at the Hellenic American Union Theater (22 Massalias Street, Athens), on Monday April 24th, 2017, at 19:00.

Andrew Horton and the Swedish clown Jonas Sjogren will be present to introduce the film and discuss with the audience.

The event is organized by the Hellenic American Union and the Hellenic American College (HAEC) in cooperation with Hellenic American University (New Hampshire, USA).

"Laughter Without Borders" was filmed by Andrew Horton during the summer of 2016 in the refugee camps around Thessaloniki, where he followed four Swedish clowns, members of the organization Clowns without Borders. The documentary features the work of the organization that sends clowns across the globe to entertain children living in stressful environments like refugee camps. The clowns offer resilience through laughter. They aim to relieve the suffering of people who have experienced trauma or crisis, especially children, through performances and workshops. Brady Foster, a former student of Andrew Horton at the University of Oklahoma, is the film's cinematographer and editor.

Andrew Horton is an award winning screenwriter and author of books on cinema, script writing and cultural studies and served as Professor of the School of Cinema and Media Studies of the University of Oklahoma for 18 years.

The screening and discussion will be in English.

Admission is free of charge.
